Michelle Carpenter
High School Liaison
My parents were first-generation Americans and their parents couldn't go to college. I saw firsthand how going to college changed their lives! My dad became a newspaper editor and my mother earned a non-traditional degree for a woman in the 1940s, labor economics! I studied to be a teacher and worked with non-traditional students, creating mentoring programs, leadership programs for girls, and special advising programs designed to help students envision college and a career.
